I am a senior graduating from Clemson University with a Bachelor’s of Science this May, 2023. I am majoring in Language and International Health, with a Spanish emphasis and a minor in Biological Sciences. After graduation, I plan to utilize this unique degree to support health on the individual, community, and global levels.

As an incoming freshman, I originally planned to study microbiology because it seemed like the most straightforward path to take all the necessary prerequisites in order to attend medical school. During my first semester, I learned of the Language and International Health degree program, and I was instantly taken by the opportunity to combine my interests in health with my love for the Spanish language. My degree has provided me opportunities to grow in my cultural competencies and view health holistically, with a lens of compassion.

I entered college as a pre-medical student because I was fascinated by the human body and wanted to help others. My experiences since then, especially my experience as a fitness instructor, health extension intern, and internship abroad, have shown me there is so much more to a healthy life than just medicine.

I am excited to put the skills I have gained during my time at Clemson to use in a new context following graduation. I have worked hard over the past four years to experience different cultures, practice empathy, and promote wellness. I hope to work for an organization that shares my values, working to ensure healthier lives for all.
